Speaking of swim lessons...

Janie is doing so well now. She hasn't always been comfortable in the water, or willing to try new things. She hated getting water on her face, and hadn't gotten the hang of going under water without holding her nose. This session has been awesome, she's like a new kid in the water. Armed with her goggles, she's relaxed, she tries things, she does her bobs without holding her nose and today - she swam with her face in the water without holding her nose! Yay, Janie!

I have to admit, I never learned how to swim properly. I can get from Point A to Point B and can tread water. I can do enough to not drown if I fall in a pool, but I can't really swim. I never got the hang of going under water without holding my nose. I feel sure that in a few more weeks, my (almost) seven year old will be a better "swimmer" than I am.

Jacob is well on his way, also. He loves the water, has always been very comfortable and willing to just jump in, literally. He has developed a little caution now (which is great), but he's still a fish. He's not swimming and isn't going under, but he's doing awesome and will be out swimming me in no time.

Now... Mark swims circles around all of us. I wish I was as comfortable in the water as he is. He grew up near the beach, was on swim teams, was a surfer, a lifeguard. I hope the kids continue to follow in his foot steps.
