Happy 231 America!

We had a pretty nice day. The kids came into bed with us around 8:00 and we lazed around, played, etc until after 10:00! That was nice. I did some recipe hunting for the meal we'd be preparing while Mark put our flag out. Then I jumped in the shower and went to Wal-Mart BY MYSELF! :) What a treat... isn't that sad?

Came home, fixed the kids a quick lunch then Mark and I got them ready to go to The Bay, Mark was going to take them. Yay! Real Mommy time! They left around 3:15, got back around 6:30. While they were gone I worked on organizing my files on the computer... deleting a lot of things, combining duplicated folders, blah, blah, blah, blah... Right now as I type the computer is slowly moving several large PS files over to the external drive. It will be awesome to have more free space on the hard drive.

After they got home I had to slam it into cook-like-a-crazy-woman gear. That done, we still didn't eat until 8:30. I made basil nectarine lemonade, red potatoes and bacon, mac-n-cheese and corn. Mark grilled some chicken wings for us and burgers for the kids. Everything was very good, but we had to stop eating to run upstairs and watch the fireworks displays. (We were going to eat outside, but Jacob is so afraid of the fireworks that it just wasn't going to happen.) Janie and I stood outside with Doug and Mary in their yard and watched a local display - it was awesome! Afterwards we went upstairs to watch three other local displays. I think we have the best fireworks watching house in the 'hood, on a little rise.

Jacob wanted to go to bed so I obliged and he was out almost immediately. Janie and Mark watched some more fireworks and walked around the cul-de-sac a bit visiting with some neighbors. Janie got to hold a sparkler (we hadn't gotten any this year), which she really enjoyed. Meanwhile... I was asleep on Janie's bed.

Nothing like a little power snooze.

She finally went to bed around 11:30. Mark's asleep on the couch now and I'm hating that I took that power snooze.

Oh no, did you ever get any sleep? It sounds like a lovely 4th! And a yummy dinner!

We just had a nice lazy day at home. It was pouring rain, and we did not go to the fireworks, which were put off til last night. We didn't go last night either because it poured even more rain. They did have the fireworks regardless though!
